This is a great opportunity to learn about crop art in general but also about the painted category, which I don’t do. Take a class from these clever people! Help raise money for mutual aid! #cropart #seedart
Liam has been on my mind constantly the past 2 weeks. This picture was seared into my brain; it is evidence of the total lack of humanity within this administration.
Many thanks to @danilawaart.bsky.social for allowing me to recreate this beautiful work as crop art.

I'm guessing there are going to be some @first-avenue.com @brucespringsteen.net #CropArt pieces added to the collections at #MNStateFair ...
Can't wait for the #CropArt at the #MNStateFair this year. Especially for the sneaky ones.
A dark green t-shirt that is screen printed with a unicorn with an ear of golden corn as its horn, standing in front of a field of corn.
TMW you find stumble upon the perfect t-shirt that represents you as a crop artist. I may or may not wear this every day of the MN State Fair.

This is a great article by @stribrooks.bsky.social about Katherine Erickson’s amazing crop art piece “SEED”. She won a blue ribbon at the Minnesota State Fair this year.

“In the end, it was a low-tech solution that brought Beanu to Keanu. Just a human, waiting outside a stage door so share something they liked with someone they liked.”

A memer reminded me the other day that #Minnesota had its annual #cropart display at the #statefair, and I need to make this creative practice part of my Autumn ritual.

Tools of the crop art trade!
The bird is the canvas & I hope we all know what a brush is. The midge podge serves as both an adhesive and a sealant. The polyurethane is a sealant.
Thank you Marta Shore for talking to me about crop art & bringing props!

To crop art or not to crop art? This art form relies on edible things & GLAMS usually don't like that.
How's @artsmia.bsky.social displaying the State Fair's crop art in "Cream of the Crop: A Minnesotan Folk Art Showcase"? Subscribe to The Weekly Tea to find out bit.ly/3JTJ2TK

Oh damn, this is going to be another ugly ugly race with a lot of money involved. At least Julie will have more time for next year's #CropArt!
The line to get in was long, but moved pretty fast. I appreciated that they had a fast lane and a linger lane. Good crowd control on that.
A panel showing many crop arts, including Demeter, that WPA photo of the Okie woman, “there ain’t no zip code for crazy”, “Walz kicked immigrants off healthcare, NOT Flanagan”, internal female reproductive organs, “god -loes- loves atmosphere at the Minnesota State Fair”, “Radical empathy is the future”, We all do better when we all do better”, “god -loes- loves pearl barley” (with a picture of a saturnine man wearing a hat), a depiction of a bucket hat that says “oasis live ‘25”, a cowboy boot wearing a cowboy hat with the word “Carter” along the bottom edge, and four crop-art animal portraits, including a steer?, a goat, a chipmunk, and a loon.
Central art piece: Strega Nona Knows Joy is a Radical Act. It looks like the art from the book, but you know, in seeds. To the left, some pinecones, a happy anthropormorphic mushroom wearing pants, a risque mushroom wearing bikini bottoms and knitting? a top. A chorus line of mushrooms under a banner saying State Fair/Ag Hort. Fairchild, the fair mascot chipmunk. A cow. A water tower that is also a corn cob, on a textured black background.
The scene from “Goodnight Moon”, but it’s Snoopy and Charlie Brown in the bed. The Sweet Old Lady is an ear of corn. There is a red dog house, a striped sweater hanging on the drying rack, a football in the art over the fireplace, another piece of art depicting the sad Christmas tree, ana red kite.
Ok, time for half an hour of #CropArt!
My Chagall Dream by Jeanne Morales of Minneapolis— a woman in a gown appears to fly over Minneapolis landmarks like First Ave, the state fair giant slide, the Hook and Ladder, in seeds and grains, some painted.
Ceci n’est pas un corn dog by Amy & Steve Saupe of Saint Paul. A corn dog and French text (this is not a corn dog, after Magritte, in small natural colored seeds

Working on this year's #cropart entry for the Minnesota 6 State Fair.
#mnstatefair #cropart yes there are lines, and the crops people did what they could with that space they have. One reason they need to keep the line moving is the fire code: the room itself and the whole building wasn’t made for that many people. Mainly, don’t be an asshole
A man wearing a collared shirt with his back to me that has an excel spreadsheet printed all over it and it says: “ Ohh…this calls for a spreadsheet”
A close up of the font name on the man wearing a collared shirt with his back to me that has an excel spreadsheet printed all over it and it says: “Geeksoutfit”
One of the best things about the #mnstatefair (other than #CropArt obs) are the shirts that people wear to the fair. This guy has probably waited all year to wear his excel spreadsheet shirt! Even the font name is awesome: Geeksoutfit. LOL
Almost makes you want to do a #CropArt for next year of the Sweet Marthas Llama that says She Was ROBBED! #MNStateFair
The Zelenskyy side eye (IMHO, easily the most epic side eye of all time) 👀 in seeds...NICE. (They're all great.) #MNStateFair #CropArt

The ends of two lines meet of the far side of a topiary display from a sign that says, in part, “CROP” and “FIELD.”
I love the #MNStateFair #CropArt, but dread the line. My hack was always to buzz by in the second row, but this year, they’ve made that a line too! Worse, they’re both longer than ever, almost meeting at the ends!
Crop art depicting Nathan Fielder in a pilot uniform against a white background with orange text reading “Miracle Over the Mojave.” Made by Sarah Monson of Minneapolis, MN.
Not enough people are talking about the Miracle Over the Mojave #cropart. So happy for Nathan Fielder to get the recognition he deserves.
If anyone knows Sarah Monson plz get me in touch with her.

At first, it was charming and satisfying, nudging the little yellow dots snugly into place, wrapped in a blanket of glue.
How long could it really take?
