I have been running the Norfolk Crucian Project since 2008. We have genuinely saved this fish species from extinction in the wild in Norfolk & have benefitted many other species (& people!) along the way. We think we have increased #crucian carp distribution by >40-50%. But onwards & upwards!!!

#Crucians26 saw us find 2 new wild #crucian carp populations as well as proving 3 more successful (surviving & recruiting) reintroductions. Thanks so much to a truly brilliant team. We are winning the battle to save the crucian carp in the #ponds of Norfolk, eastern England!

We had this little Sayer family member as a helper today. The future of conservation relies on young people seeing & feeling nature. Especially #crucian carp obviously #crucians2026

We caught this large & beautiful #crucian carp today from a large #pond. As you tilt these fish the changing light highlights greens, & bronze but overwhelmingly gold. Surely Britain's most beautiful fish? #crucians2026

The Norfolk #Crucian Carp project has been running since 2008. #Crucians are declining throughout their European range including in England. Only in Norfolk is the species on the up. Since its start the project has increased its distribution by a massive 40% @fishtwitcher.bsky.social #crucians2026

Crucian nets are out in one of Norfolk's highest ponds tonight. We stocked this pond >10 yrs ago & are monitoring its #crucian carp population. Hoping for a great catch even though its going to be a cold night. #crucians2026
