Have you seen this brilliant video? Happy to have contributed to the Summer School 😊

Hard to believe this was almost a month ago – it was great to meet so many talented and thoughtful people! #DHSS2025
Still feeling the high from last week’s Summer School! #DHSS2025
My biggest pride: the amazing participants we brought together: knowledgeable, critical, eager to debate and truly engage.
And of course, endless gratitude to our @dhssfau.bsky.social team, who made everything run so smoothly!
What a week at the summer school ‚gender, data and society’ at @dhssfau.bsky.social. I was able to gain so many insights into interesting DH projects and, above all, I met some great researchers. Looking forward to the next opportunity!

Who is doing What to Whom? Analyzing Gender Biases in Large Language Models with @katrohrbacher.bsky.social

What does it mean to ‘stay’ in a place, and how can sound capture that experience? 🎧 Dr. Dominik Kremer and @andreaswagnr.bsky.social guided us through Tracing Qualities of Stay, exploring voice recordings tied to place and presence.

We explored how language shifts across gender, style, and register ✍️ With Dr. Marianna Grachova, we learned how Keyfeature analysis reveals the words and structures that make each variety stand out 🔍

We are truly honoured to have Prof. Mareike Schumacher @mkschumacher.bsky.social with us, delivering her amazing talk on corpus compilation and gender-sensitive analysis.
What a wonderful way to conclude the final day of our school!
#DHSS2025 #DigitalHumanities
The participants of our school have designed a number of graphical abstracts, with just a few glimpses shown here. A creative journey for researchers and future scholars to broaden their skills, discover new ways to visualise their work, and make it more visible and accessible.

So nice to learn more about the city you lived and still work in. We ended day four of the summer school with a walking tour through Erlangen which focused on its women #dhss2025 @dhss #Erlangen
CliC, CliC, CliC...📚🖥
Participants learned a great deal by using a powerful digital tool like Clic to analyze #gender in #19th-century #fiction with concordance analysis, all run by Dr. Nathan Dykes @nfdykes.bsky.social.

✨ Good morning! After yesterday’s wonderful excursion to the Germanisches Nationalmuseum, we’re starting the day with a workshop run by Dr. Sabine Lang @sabinelang.bsky.social, where participants are modeling selected objects in #Wikidata.

Almost time for my workshop on using Wikidata for cultural heritage this morning 🤩 #dhss2025
We wouldn't want to pick favourites among #RC21 workshops, but if we did, the #DHSS2025 participants would be tough to beat.
It was great to see such lively discussions during a hands-on concordance analysis exercise that didn't need anything more than a PDF reader.
Thank you everyone for coming to the #GermanischeNationalmuseum today (despite some serious train delays and rain). I enjoyed it so much and it makes me miss working as a tour guide #dhss2025 @dhssfau.bsky.social
Sabine Lang leading a discussion where participants interpret 14th century sculptures.
The excursion to Germanisches Nationalmuseum (who very generously gave our group free admission) is in full swing, with @sabinelang.bsky.social leading the tour. First stop: 14th century sculptures from Nuremberg. #DHSS2025
Eight now in our Summer School on Data, Gender and Society @nfdykes.bsky.social is introducing hands on examples of concordance analysis with flexiconc.
#DHSS2025
Now @nfdykes.bsky.social is setting out to make connections between close & distant reading

“The true value of #corpuslinguistics is the combination of quantitative scale & qualitative depth”
@gavinbrookes.bsky.social gave us so much to think about this morning
#DHSS2025
Today’s keynote is Gavin Brookes on "Corpus linguistics for gender and language research".
One striking example: James Bond’s masculinity is, among other things, constructed through silence (most frequent trigram in the Fleming corpus is "bond said nothing").

Day 3 of the summer school started with a keynote by @gavinbrookes.bsky.social on „Corpus linguistics for gender and language research“. Great way to start the day 🤩 #dhss2025

Photo from the back of a seminar room. The slide shows a network of word overlap in a topic model.
In today's extended network analysis session with @anastasiaglawion.bsky.social, we're covering topics from fanfiction to war discussions #DHSS2025
We had two fantastic sessions this morning!
– Prof. Michaela Mahlberg gave us a great introduction to digital humanities @michamahlberg.bsky.social
– Prof. Anna Foka delivered an inspiring first keynote on AI & heritage
Fantastic vibes all around! ✨
#DHSS2025 #DigitalHumanities
Anna Foka giving a keynote. The slide concerns "inclusive simulation imaginaries", which are described as socially, ethically, and future focused. An image on the slide depicts an iceberg, saying we're just at the tip
Anna Foka giving a brilliant keynote on "AI and Heritage: Critical perspectives on AI for the Archives, Libraries and Museum sector" – and of course, I was especially happy about the opportunity to quickly revive my Swedish reading skills on some of the slides showing ongoing projects ☺️
#DHSS2025
First highlight of the week: keynote by Anna Foka from Uppsala University talking about “AI and Heritage“ #dhss2025 @dhssfau.bsky.social
Our first keynote has started: Anna Foka is delving into usages of AI in #HeritageStudies and the cultural implications of rebuilding and restoration - fascinating!
