Going through old folders after stepping away from idTech 4 for a bit, and remembering I was working on a prototype for a GTFO-style mod for Doom 3. You have to stand in the hologram long enough to unlock the door, which is easy to do if demons weren't trying to chew your face off.

A screenshot from Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil, where the player wields an industrial-looking device called the "grabber gun", which has locked onto a flying skull heading right towards the player in an ancient tomb.
I don't think it's appreciated enough that in Doom 3's mission pack, Resurrection of Evil, you're introduced to Annoying Little Flying Shits a few seconds in, but like a minute later you're given a tool that lets you insta-delete the fuckers when they appear for the rest of the game.
