Drowning Prevention Week Drowning Prevention Week (DPW) is one of the largest summer water safety campaigns across the UK and Ireland. Get involved: 14 - 21 June 2025. Drowning Prevention Week (DPW) is our biggest campaign of the year, targeting families, carers, teachers and instructors of children aged five to fifteen years old with the aim of educating them about water safety. No child should drown, and with the right water safety education – such as knowledge of the Water Safety Code – accidental drownings are preventable. Drowning Prevention Week is deliberately timed ahead of the school summer holidays when children spend more time outdoors and when vital water safety skills can help keep children safe. Please help spread the word and encourage everyone to have the water safety conversation with children. DPW is critical in raising awareness and encouraging the public to enjoy water safely. There are lots of leisure operators and swimming pools/schools getting involved in Drowning Prevention Week this year. Find venues near you getting involved! In Drowning Prevention Week 2024 we achieved: Our free resources were used to educate an estimated 1.25 million children about water safety Shares, likes and comments increased by over 80% across Facebook and Instagram compared to 2023 Drowning Prevention Week was featured in 275 press articles and broadcasts, including BBC, Sky, ITV and the Sunday Express Our video "For Joe and Sunnah" had over 200k views, resonating with families across the UK and Ireland. Thank you to Stephanie Williams and Vanessa Abbess for bravely sharing their stories YouTube Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWoy92hxlmY
