(oops)
Writing fiction again means I'm writing about flavours.
Which, today, has led to throwing some smoked barley and cacao shells into some coffee to see if it works out.

I got my super-intensive inventory task that took the better part of 2 very long Tea Days to accomplish done...
...and this means that I get the treat of testing Easy Mode Wild Rice for Tea Use.

*eyes the freezedried strawberry powder that is too fine to use in tea and wonders about throwing it into a coffee test to finally see if that would Actually work*
#DSNTeaLab
Had some elderberries set aside in an Oops Bowl and on a whim I threw half of them into my Second Coffee (Peace Coffee's Blue Ox) this morning and...
... as I just took my first sip, walking down the hallway, I cackled, profaned happily and expressed that it had worked, so...
#DSNTeaLab
I've mentioned that I was definitely going to add light roast coffee to the ingredients list...
... in pursuit of that, I am seeking input on what I should add to it.
(Starting from Peace Coffee's Morning Glory.)
Options in thread. A like is a vote.

If you're tried The Light of Pixies is Their Own, this is the foundation tea used to make it.

Should my DSN test today be a french roast or my first ever taste of a light roast (called morning glory)?
#DSNTeaLab
(...maybe that hashtag should just become #DSNLab ...or something. Having another one of those "not enough caffeine to boot up proper" days.)
Reskeets appreciated.
And. Oops.
#DSNTeaLab #TeaOfTheMonthClub
One of the names in play for the Tea of the Month for December 2025 was "Not Today, Fascism" and... it didn't make the cut because I went another direction with it, but I think this is one of those cases where I have a name that needs a tea.
#DSNTeaLab #DSNTOTM
A chaotic looking blend of pieces of freezedried strawberry, the blossoms and root of dandelion (including fluff), and bits of clover flower.
This one also starts with Hope Defiant, and then continues with bits of several stubborn plants.

#DSNTeaLab
Yeah. I can work with that.
In the same general taste range as Calendula, though definitely its own thing. And lends much more sweet - which surprised me a little.
#DSNTeaLab
...I got fixated on a particular tea idea. That required adding something to the toolbox.
So now I have to wait for the new thing to arrive.
*grumble-sighs*
#DSNTeaLab
What do you think stubbornness tastes like?
Or spite?
Or sheer grit?
(reskeets appreciated)
#DSNTeaLab
Hate it when I make a test cup of something and discover that I really would have rather made a pot.
#DSNTeaLab
Loosely tea related:
What are you hoping for from 2026?
What are you expecting from it?
(Reskeets appreciated.)
#DSNTOTM #DSNTeaLab
...I wanted a green tea chai tonight, and was originally thinking The Smoking Gnu.
...but I didn't have any of that out.
So, I figured I'd chance putting the right spices in with Hope Defiant and...
...now that combination is going to need a name.
#DSNTeaLab #DSNTeaNaming
And now I am confronted with a blender-of-things dilemma.
Do I test the new tool for making coffee, or do I have a cup of the newly batch-sized Tybalt's Trust?
#DSNTeaLab #BlendingDay
I am really tempted to run a test of a Raj tea today.
(I have a tin that was used to make the test Court of Dreaming cats with the backup jin xuan, so it has to be used for a Court tea and...)
I probably shouldn't. But very tempting.
#DSNTeaLab
I really need to get around to testing mustard seed for tea.
(Made some neat flavour combinations on my pancakes right now and a couple of them drove that point home.)
#NotTooWeird #DSNTeaLab
But even without that test right now, I'm fairly certain this is going to work.
Which means it needs a page.
(And yes, this is Daye related, for those of you who might be curious.)
#DSNTeaLab
(4/4?)
Cornflower and calendula petals crisscrossed and through leaves of second flush Darjeeling blues and yellows and browns and almost purples, with fragments of pink cranberries to accentuate the chaos.
My prompt for this one:
"Discombobulated, in need of chill"
"Blue and yellow and purple and pink (?) (or not?)"
(Little Alice. Little Cheshire. Whole lot of this month has been a lot.)
(Darjeeling, cranberries, calendula, cornflower)
Almost lavender, but that felt a little Godzilla.
#DSNTeaLab
#DSNTeaLab
oops.
*tired*
Looks like I will get two new chais released next week.
Both are takes on smoky and orange.
#DSNTeaLab
10-514 (Earl Grey with Coconut and Vanilla) has finally advanced to the naming poll stage in the Discord server.
#DSNTeaLab
#DSNTeaLab so I can find it later.
(currently looking for something.)
I wonder if I could work up something citrus and coffee to fill a similar spot as Taliesin's for when throat is crunchy and goo and one still needs to speak.
#DSNTeaLab
Are there flavours other than the plethora of mints that taste/evoke cold to you?
