It is an expression of cultural identity, resilience and solidarity. In Palestine, it is danced at weddings, celebrations and protests as a sign of joie de vivre and collective perseverance. Dabke also plays an important role in the diaspora: it connects generations, preserves traditions and creates a sense of home, no matter where you live. At the same time, it also invites people without a Palestinian background to join in and immerse themselves in the rhythm. We are delighted to welcome Fadi Waked @fadi_waked94 as our workshop leader! Fadi is a Palestinian-Syrian dancer, choreographer and artist who lives in Berlin and works internationally. In his performances – including his solo ‘A Ticket to Another Migration’ – he deals with themes such as identity, movement and migration. In addition to his artistic work, Fadi also teaches dabke, the traditional dance, imparting not only technique but also history and cultural context.
