Keen observers will have worked out that the end of #DailyLegoFlag is nigh. As I’d quite like to get it wrapped up before #Eurovision, I’m going to make the end even nigher and hereby announce the short-lived #TwiceDailyLegoFlag. Cheers!
#DailyLegoFlag
The main deficiencies of the #DailyLegoFlag of #Uzbekistan are: 1. The red stripes are missing entirely - they’re just too thin to include. 2. There are three stars instead of twelve. Where would they go, even if I had more star pieces? 3. The crescent moon is a bit rubbish 🇺🇿
The #DailyLegoFlag of #Uruguay has 67% of the stripes it’s meant to have, which is far more than yesterday’s - and yet it’s less recognisable. The reason? No smiley face on the sun. Need that smiley face 🇺🇾
It’s missing 54% of its stripes and 88% of its stars (well, circles), yet it’s still recognisable as the #DailyLegoFlag of the #UnitedStatesofAmerica 🇺🇸
The United Republic of #Tanzania is another country that appears in an unexpected place in the UN’s alphabetical list. Diagonal stripes reasonably executed on the #DailyLegoFlag, albeit with a bit of overhang 🇹🇿
Habemus flagam! #DailyLegoFlag #UnitedKingdom 🇬🇧
A side rectangle is much easier to make accurately on a #DailyLegoFlag than a side triangle #UnitedArabEmirates 🇦🇪
#DailyLegoFlag Long before 2022 and long before 2014, I’ve always loved the flag of #Ukraine. Elegant simplicity at its best. The blue represents the sky, the yellow represents wheat and now the whole thing represents more than I could ever have imagined 🇺🇦
By my reckoning, the grey crowned crane on the #DailyLegoFlag of #Uganda - that fella in the middle - is the first bird we’ve had for about a month 🇺🇬
On the flag of #Tuvalu, the nine yellow stars represent the country’s nine islands. On the #DailyLegoFlag, three of the islands have sunk into the sea and the remainder are a lot more circular than they ought to be 🇹🇻
#Turkmenistan Nice to get a bit of carpet on a #DailyLegoFlag - it’s not something we see enough of 🇹🇲
It was Turkey for year after year,
And we all called it that without fear,
But then its folk heard
That that’s also a bird.
“From now on please call us #Türkiye.”
#DailyLegoFlag 🇹🇷
It’s a few weeks since we’ve had a #DailyLegoFlag with a crescent moon, but I’m delighted to report that we now get three in a row. What’s more, each is made differently. Lovely stuff. First up: #Tunisia 🇹🇳
I do try to avoid overhang wherever possible, but I couldn’t find a way to do it for the #DailyLegoFlag of #TrinidadandTobago 🇹🇹
When I hear people say the name #Tonga,
Their accent could be a bit stronger.
But it’s not any wronger
To say it like “Tonga”.
I’ll go mad if this goes on much longer.
#DailyLegoFlag 🇹🇴
Reasons #Togo is better than the USA: 1. A manageable number of stripes, simply achieved by going to five rows. 2. A manageable number of star, although of course it’s a circle on the #DailyLegoFlag. 3. More interesting colours. Anyone got any others? 🇹🇬
#TimorLeste carries the rare distinction of featuring different ways of replicating diagonal lines within the same #DailyLegoFlag 🇹🇱
The #DailyLegoFlag of #Thailand is an inverse Costa Rica 🇹🇭
#DailyLegoFlag #Tajikistan Yellow crown and seven yellow stars / yellow rectangle and four yellow circles. Potato / potahto 🇹🇯
#Syria officially changed its flag about a month ago, so its #DailyLegoFlag is the new one - but since some things never change, naturally the stars are depicted as circles
One of my favourite moments on the Twitter was when someone called me a shithead for describing the #DailyLegoFlag of #Switzerland as non-rectangular. Whatever the case, it’s the white cross piece’s time to shine🇨🇭
I’ve already mentioned how much I like a blue and yellow #DailyLegoFlag, and #Sweden is a classic of the genre - plus easier to make accurately than any other Scandinavian cross 🇸🇪
Big yellow circle = big yellow star, you know the story by now #DailyLegoFlag #Suriname 🇸🇷
The golden lion holding a sword might be lacking a bit of detail, but otherwise this is just about recognisable as the #DailyLegoFlag of #SriLanka 🇱🇰
Zoom in closely on those four pixels on the #DailyLegoFlag of #Spain and you’ll see all sorts: castles, crowns, lions, pomegranates, you name it. PLUS ULTRA! 🇪🇸
I went to seven rows for the #DailyLegoFlag of #SouthSudan, but it’s such a busy flag that the end result is still pretty underwhelming. Among various problems, the side triangle is too stubby. Big yellow circle instead of big yellow star, naturally 🇸🇸
#SouthAfrica is one of my all-time favourites. The angle of the pointy white pieces is *chef’s kiss*, even if I say so myself #DailyLegoFlag 🇿🇦
The flower piece is deployed as a big white star once again on the #DailyLegoFlag of #Somalia 🇸🇴
There are various ways of making a diagonal stripe, depending on the circumstances, and I’ve gone with steps for the #DailyLegoFlag of the #SolomonIslands 🇸🇧
