A short bit of music in A major for cornets, clarinets, strings, and tympani. The melodic material is derived from yesterday's post (23 May 2025). The chord progressions are from the first part of "Folia", specifically i-v-i (minor tonic and dominant chords), and VII-III (major supertonic and mediant chords, which are also the tonic and dominant of the key's relative major, C).
The #DailyMelody music that I write in a single day seems to reflect the personal events & thoughts of the day. But, since the writing takes up a good chunk of the day, my personal events & thoughts may be a reflection of the music written.

Over a century ago, Boris Sabaneyev wrote a "Canzona Phrygia", a mostly polyphonic bit of music for organ and arranged for piano. The first ten bars of the middle and upper contraputal voices serve as the basis for the music below.
