(Book review) >Fixing Past Wrongs< Tyler Dare is pretty good at setting the wrong impressions when it comes to Ella Shaw. I agree with him that he really messed up with her when she was 18. Not only did she completely misinterpret the situation post-coital, but it set the stage for further issues. Oh, how I feel for her. -- Book quote 'Warning bells went off in her head, but she was too far gone to heed them. Until his fingers slid up her sides, gliding over her skin, reaching beneath her shirt, and coming to rest beneath her breasts.' -- Ella Shaw Despite the poor impression that this starts with, I think Tyler redeems himself in a couple of ways. I really like how he shows up and shows out for Ella and his family. Overall, another wonderful addition to the Dare family saga. I read along with the audio book. The narrator is Sophie Eastlake, who provides a good and consistent listening experience. Story: 4 stars Narration: 4 stars Listening Speed: 1.8x H = 32; h = 27

(Book review) UPDATED 3/2025: I love their chemistry, and as much as it drives me nuts, I love that we get to see Madison Evans and Alex Dare failing to communicate but also figuring it out, pushing each other's boundaries and negative instincts. I love how she stops to evaluate her reactions as a social worker would and reassesses her next steps. -- Book quote 'Despite how badly he’d hurt her, she still wanted him. And wasn’t that the worst part? She, who’d trained herself at an early age not to want or need anyone or anything, still responded to the mere thought of Alex Dare.' -- Madison Evans As for Alex, I like that he took responsibility for his actions. Deflecting or excusing could've been easier, but he admitted his faults and worked to fix things. I love how he wants to be there when she finds herself in a legal situation. I borrowed the audio book. The narrator is again Sophie Eastlake, whom I enjoy listening to. Story: 4 stars Narration: 3.5 stars Listening Speed: 1.8x H & h = 26

(Book review, 1/2) Daddy Issues Indeed! *Quick note: I previously read this series, I wasn't always good about leaving reviews then, and decided it was time to revisit the Dares and rectify that. This is your only warning that you may be seeing a lot of reviews from me in the coming months for this large, sometimes complicated family tree, including siblings (half and whole), cousins, etc. 😘 Out of the gates, Ian Dare's daddy issues surface. Truthfully, I would be messed up, too, if I were in that situation. All things considered, he handles it relatively well. Of course, when the right person comes along, it's amazing how open to evaluating the perspectives of others we become. Yes, I apparently feel a kinship with Ian or at least familiarity with those feelings. Enough about me. I absolutely love the reaction he has the first time he lays eyes on Riley Taylor, despite her attachment to someone he views as an enemy. I also love that he takes time to get to know her, he's upfront about his expectations in the bedroom, he admits his mistakes, and he is very protective.
(Book review, 2/2) Yeah, he may take that protectiveness a touch too far here or there, but I love that she has no problems calling him out for it. Sure, she needs to work up the courage sometimes and may lean into avoidance a time or two, but those are things I think many of us do, especially when we're feeling vulnerable. -- Book quote 'He breathed in slowly, controlling a need for this woman that ran so deep, he feared it might never go away.' -- Ian Dare It should be pretty obvious that I love this couple. It's so much more than just them, though. It's also their friends and family that make this worthy of (re)reading. I read along with the audio book this go round. The narrator is Sophie Eastlake, and I think she did a really good job with everything. I would've preferred a second narrator to help out, but I do like her. Story: 4.5 stars Narration: 3.5 stars Listening Speed: 1.8x H = 30; h = 27ish
