Another business....@NelsonOrtho and @BallardPeds installed high lumen/high Kelvin/high mount lights. We’re sad they have been our #DarkSkyFriendly business since the late 1990’s. #GoLow : Low lumen/Low Kelvin/ Low mounting /Low spill (fully-shielded and point down)
Last year this #newconstruction home had #DarkSky #Eco #shielded lighting. We posted them as “Tonight’s #Darkskyfriendly light ...they now have “down-graded” to this. We’re sad....what can we do? We gain at least one of these lights on each city block per month. Ideas/Thought?
This is why we are against many fixtures that claim they are #DarkSkyFriendly -if they can move, inevitable they could end up like this one-pointed at the sky.
We see evidence that @SeattleUnited & @SeaPubSchools both have shown they care about young athletes health, so we ask that you only support #fieldlighting that is #darkskyfriendly which is our best measuring tool for protecting #humanhealth from #ALAN (artificial light at night)

These are #fullyshielded and pointed down -therefore they ARE #darkskyfriendly. You can see the bulb a bit but they are mounted at about 8 feet high so lightspill is minimal

This is NOT #darkskyfriendly. Yes, there is a cover over the top of the bulb but it is not facing down: (hint-if you can see the bulb it’s probably not fully-shielded)
We’re trying to reach out to a #seattle business called #ballard neighborhood doctors. Their office has over 10 unshielded lights on all night.
Please if you know them ask them to write themselves a prescription for #darkskyfriendly lighting. #LightPollution #healthcare
