The 29-year-old Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs) from Washington, D.C, was last seen in March when he gave Davis (30-0, 28) his toughest fight to date, which resulted in a highly debated majority draw. That night, Davis took a knee voluntarily after being hit with a punch, which should have been called a knockdown, but instead, referee Steve Willis allowed Davis to go to his corner and have his face wiped.

Davis was in an altercation with the mother of his two children, leading to Davis allegedly putting his hands on her. According to a police report obtained by Local10.com, “Davis told his ex-girlfriend to remove their children from his car as he no longer intended to take them, but when she leaned forward to retrieve their daughter from the backseat, Davis struck her in the back of the head and then slapped her in the face, causing a minor cut to the inner area of her lip.
