It’s strange how we apportion time. Scientifically, we’ve the ancient Egyptians and Babylonians to credit for our 24-hour day and 60-minute hour, Julius Caesar and Pope Gregory XIII for our 12-month calendar. But why are we so apt to delay/define our efforts using those constructs? Many is the cry of, “I’m going back to the gym on Monday!” or “Starting in January, I’m eating better!”. Do we find this an easier way to mark the boundaries of our efforts or simply a method to put off our new pursuits? I’m guilty of this myself, as recent events have disrupted many of my usual routines, so my battle cry over the weekend was, “Monday! Monday it begins again!”. And here I am, hoping to get back into the groove, back to The Plan, back to forward progress. With those changes and future triumphs in mind, here’s some more (US) morning mellow.
