One of the world’s biggest trilobites was hiding in Ohio. In 1919, workers digging the Huffman Dam foundation unearthed a 450M year old trilobite — 14.5 inches. One of the largest ever found!
“Pete” now lives at the Smithsonian, but the story started here. #Trilobite #DaytonHistory #Ordovician

A small museum highlight. People around Dayton, Ohio, know about Carrillon Park, but for those visiting from elsewhere, this is a great park/museum! It includes a full-sized Wright Flyer built by Orville Wright himself! (A local boy!) and a good brewery/restaurant. #daytonhistory 🗃️

In 1943, Dayton welcomed Japanese American families released from internment camps. Churches helped over 150 resettle despite fear. A powerful story of kindness in wartime. 💬 Thoughts?

Prior to 1796, the river bank originally came up to Perry Street. When Downtown was platted, the river bank was pushed back to the way it is now. Perry Street was also changed to Cherry Street. The section in the circle was all water. #daytonohio #daytonhistory
