Close-up of the word circles for "and again". These are roughly drawn, with with basic circles, tiny dots, and stubbed line segments.

Close-up from the final version, showing the same words: "and again". Both words are rotated slightly, some of the letters have changed in relative size to eachother, and the dots and lines are much more artistically drawn and arranged.

Things like proportions, orientation, and the placement of the line and dot decorations are all subject to change.

I use this step primarily as a schematic or checklist of what elements I need to draw and their relative order to eachother.

Each of the words in the original phrase are now drawn as word circles, arranged in a larger sentence circle. Their design is rough and basic, meant to show shapes and positions but not the final artistic details.

The same image, but here the english translations are shown next to each word. Additionally, the word circles are all different colours now (which is not something I typically do at this stage, but for clarity these colours match the ones used in the image of post 5/7 later in this thread).

Next step is to rough out the completed word circles. In circular Gallifreyan, words and sentences are read counter-clockwise, starting at the bottom.
