We launched our #DemandASeat program in 2021 to train gun violence prevention advocates and gun violence survivors to run for office. Since then, over 600 have been elected—flipping legislatures and paving the way for progress on gun safety.
Nationwide, 111 Moms Demand Action volunteers were elected to office across 23 states, adding to the 600+ #DemandASeat volunteers who have run and won since the program launched. 🧵
Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to attend Everytown’s
#DemandASeat candidate bootcamp training in Washington, DC. The training was from December 4-7 and I got to meet and learn from many @momsdemand.bsky.social
volunteers and leaders from across the country. 🧡❤️🧡
And that’s not all: 111 @momsdemand.bsky.social volunteers were elected to office in 23 states this year. They join the ranks of more than 600 volunteers across 42 states who have run for office and won since we launched our #DemandASeat program in 2021.

🔥 Big weekend in Philly! Our volunteers from across the country came together for Everytown’s #DemandASeat campaign management bootcamp. Over three days, participants sharpened their skills, built campaign plans, and got real-time feedback from experts. They left ready to run winning campaigns. 💪👏

Shaundelle Brooks ran for office in honor of her son, Akilah Dasilva, who was shot and killed in a horrific mass shooting at a Nashville Waffle House in 2018. This week, Shaundelle was sworn into the Tennessee House of Representatives, District 60! #DemandASeat @natrixdreammom.bsky.social
During the 2023-24 election cycle, 333 of our volunteers were elected to offices up and down the ballot. Of these, nearly 60 percent are headed to state legislatures, and six are headed to Congress! For the 2025-26 cycle, we plan to double down on our #DemandASeat candidate training program!
HUGE: This year, more @momsdemand.bsky.social volunteers were elected to public office than ever before! Since 2021, the Everytown Victory Fund #DemandASeat program has trained over 1,000 volunteers and nearly 500 volunteers have gone on to win elections at the local, state, and federal level.
