A photo from a high vantage point overlooking the meeting of two great rivers. From lower far left a river makes a broad curve toward the right and then back to the left near the middle of the image, where it meets another river that flows from behind a large tan colored, steep bluff, then across the middle of the image off to the far left. Both banks of the curved river are lined with the tan terrain of late Fall season grasses, and closer to the water, dotted with trees. More trees are visible where the two rivers meet, along with multicolored train cars passing over a bridge at the mouth of the curved river. Mimicking the curve of the upward flowing river to it's left, is a dark line of a railroad grade. On the right side, there is a fainter trace of an old railbed turned into a recreational path. The flanks of the bluffs above on both sides of the river show creases where seasonal streams flow down. The bluff high to the right side of the curved river has horizontal rocky outcrops near it's top, and high tension power pylons sitting at it's very top. Across the horizontal river at the middle stands a tall mountainside in the distance, with a level shelf above the river nearer the mountain's base. Above that is a sinuous band of continuous white cloud horizontal across the entire image, hugging the mountain's middle. Above the cloud layer are the lofty, gently curved tops and ridges of the big mountain side. Most of the mountainsides and bluff are lacking trees, as is typical on the Eastern territories in Oregon and Washington, East of the Cascade Mountains. The sky above the far mountain is overcast, and fairly featureless. The colors overall are muted by the dimmer light getting through the heavy overcast sky, and the late Fall season. The rivers have a leaden blueish cast, as does the big far mountain. The nearer bluffs are largely muted golds, with hints of green.

About 6 hours ago, we stopped at this vista of the #DeschutesRiver meeting the #ColumbiaRiver from the #Oregon side, with the massive mountains of Eastern #Washington rising high above the scene.
