Robert Downey Jr channeling Charlie Chaplin for Details magazine. This was a challenge, my first pass looked flat and dull. Took a leap and added in some darker shades that weren't in the original just to bring it off the board a bit.

This was the actual assignment submission, some pensive rando shilling for Armani. 11x14 on board.

This was the last of the for-fun paintings. Problem was I was low on paint after the others, and broke AF. Nowhere near enough black for the big jacket. So I did a negative image and honestly I still like it. The textures/shapes of the face and hair don't look like anything at all but taken together it really works. Also 11x14 on board.

#DearDiary, Channel J, Part 1. Voyeur Vision was a 90’s after hours Manhattan Cable Channel J program starring Lynn Muscarella, a bubbly and charismatic cutie—think a Long Island Love Boat Cruise Director Julie McCoy—answering viewers’ calls and performing live phone sex on a satiny brass bed for her weeknight television audience which just about always included me. Lynn Muscarella’s look was exclusively non-X-rated lingerie on air, although her fans would go nuts for the not infrequent nip slip or the elusive lace thong loose labia wardrobe malfunction. At some point during every show she’d bust out a giant size vibrator to bring herself and the episode to a climax, but it was only occasionally when she’d incorporate cosplay/role play into her act… like the one time my mother was channel surfing after dinner during a trip to the Big Apple, stumbling upon a close up of Lynn’s bare ass cheeks filling the screen with iridescent hula skirt grass flossing her crack while an anonymous voice was whispering porn perv hoarsely, “I wanna get right up your butt, Lynn.” I was more than surprised when my sweet and conservative little Mom cracked up laughing as I leapt to gain control of the remote before the situation turned too psychologically problematic. Unfortunately, my mother gleefully repeated the “right up your butt” line at breakfast to my mortified father who had thankfully been sound asleep during the simulated Waikiki Beach sand and surf analingus fantasia. In 1991, my boss at Details decided that we should include Lynn Muscarella as a future star in our January 1992 Ones To Watch issue, and I told a delighted Lynn the story about Mom and Voyeur Vision when we photogrqphed Lynn all glam and smiling, wearing a fluffy little Badgley Mishka cocktail dress in a fancy room at the Carlyle Hotel on the Upper East Side. I remember Lynn plunging her face into a silver punch bowl filled with ice before her makeup was applied and I remember her husband Bill Muscarella shou…
