Pioneering isn't easy. It wasn't easy when Poly- nesians crossed the storm-swept Pacific Ocean fo Hawaii. It wasn't easy when Europeans hacked their farms out of the cold and dangerous forests of colonial America. Today, it stil takes courage and determination for 24th century Humans fo for- sake all Earthly possessions and travel light years to unfamiliar worlds filled with alien life.
First example good, second example bad.
Space is more like the first example anyway, there's nobody there to steal from or enslave, and the Polynesians didn't venture into the Unknown to return a profit for the shareholders....that would have never worked.
