This was the first station on the Chichester to Midhurst line, which closed to passengers in 1935 and to freight in 1970. Trains continued to run after 1970 to a gravel pit for some years afterwards.

This station closed to passengers in 1965 but the line remained open as far as Meeth for freight until the 1980s. The line had only just been lifted when I took the picture. The station has now been restored and track relaid.
