Lesson Twelve - Weathered Wishes

Had a lot of fun for this one. Narrow vertical canvases are always a fun change of pace, and these feel like they can make for neat bookmarks. I dunno if the graphite would wear off tho.

Lesson 11 - Sky|Water|Earth

I got some good practice in with blending colored pencils in which I never felt confident with. I think for future projects I’ll keep a scrap of paper to test blending outcomes.

Color first line after is an interesting technique.

Just finished this wordplay from #DrawingIsforEveryone!

I was debating for the rainbow borders if i wanted to stay solid or split off but committed and I think it looks cool!

Lesson Seven - Pocket Treasure College

The drawing of patterns took so much longer than the drawing of items, i didn’t really enjoy that part.

I think I definitely improved on the drawing aspect with the new pencils and I did enjoy working ahead with colored pencils.

Lesson Ten: Word Play (Peace)

This one was a bit frustrating but I worked through it.

I tried to not overplan and stuff but it backfired. First time using craft paper too, which is interesting. Seems easier to work with than construction paper.

Drawing is for everyone lesson nine, an attempt to use colored pencils to replicate a van goh style moon.

Lesson Nine‘s final part about trying to duplicate this drawing using our techniques and brushes. I think I had a good start but I was a bit… “too neat”, need to be more random and free!

#DrawingIsForEveryone Lesson Nine

Being a little creative, calling this one sapphire gems and rainbow showers.

Trying out posting these directly instead of as a comment, to see if it’s more visible and if it stays organized!

Lesson Nine: Rain Showers and Swirling Winds

I enjoyed the contrast in textures, but hitting another limit in the smoothness and consistency of lines.

Also the inconsistent sharpness and quality of the lines are more noticeable in the photo. I need to resharpen mid.

#DrawingIsForEveryone Lesson 8: A Swatch of Colors.

Lesson 7 was taking too long to wrap up so I skipped ahead to Lesson 8, so I can get started playing with colored pencils!

There’s quite a bit of difference in how much color my crayolas deposit compared to my artist pencils.

Took a side quest on #drawingisforeveryone to experiment with my new soft pencils. Didn’t realize until after that this set didn’t include any H’s lol.

Not sure how to use the charcoal sticks but having fun with the new B’s!

Lesson Six - Leaves and Direction of Form (Examples)

I think the examples and tests really let me flex the importance of direction especially in using pencils, blending, and contrast. Tomorrow I’ll do a few more from reference.

Lesson Five: To Draw A Stone

Today’s lessons focus is about drawing roundness, capturing texture, using erasing to remove graphite, and layering effects.

Still need more practice but I won’t stay here forever. I think I’ll draw a couple rocks of my own tomorrow.

Lesson Four: The Seeing and Drawing Practice (First Lettuce)

This practice is basically a visual drawing exercise. This took like an hour lol... might be a bit distracted.

Ontop of my HB and mechanical pencil, I added a black colored pencil to cover the darker shadows.

Lesson Two: Let's Make Marks (Practice Page)

This lesson starts with some practice with blending sticks/tortillons and making different patterns. I didn't quite get to the quality of the examples. Looking forward to combining these tomorrow!

How to Make a Tortillon (Blending Stick) - EmptyEasel.com I do a lot of blending in my art, and after going through quite a few tortillons over the years, I decided to make my own. Luckily, tortillons are fairly easy to make. Here's my process:

Lesson Two of #DrawingIsForEveryone involves a blending stump. After learning that it's just paper (and a tortillon is rolled up paper) I'm going to follow the guide below to try to make my own tomorrow!

Lesson One: The Touch of a Feather

The lesson normally calls for a variety of artist pencils, but I've always just used a mechanical pencil and a #2. So I modified the lesson a bit but I felt I followed the spirit of the intent!
