I do love me some John Ford, but despite its great production value for 1939, #DrumsAlongtheMohawk is not his best. Claudette Colbert spends most of the film hysterical, and the Utah scenery is entirely too brown for the Mohawk Valley... among other reasons. #TCMParty

NOT ENOUGH MOVIES SHOOT IN PERFECT BLUE SKY MID-DAY SUNSHINE.
And certainly not enough in Technicolor. The light in this movie was INCREDIBLE.
I know it’s hard to do and casts hard shadows but it makes me SO happy when it’s done right!
