The second European country to recognize the fledgling #UnitedStates was the #DutchRepublic, sparking the #FourthAngloDutchWar. On #ThisDayInHistory in 1781 the conquest of Dutch outposts in West Africa began. This later cleared the way for British domination of the #SlaveTrade.
