My wheels: #addmotor MOTAN M-70. Mine’s a 1st gen, so it’s slightly different from the new, updated CHOPTAN m-70 they sell now. The controller box on the new ones has been moved from under seat to under the battery, allowing the battery to be positioned further back. Also mine lacks the nice big ADDMOTOR decal on each side that the new ones are sporting.

My Rim-Tape came in, and has been applied! My #ebike now has HotWheels style redlines!

Unfortunately it only came with one ADDMOTOR logo decal, rather than the two shown in the promo image, so I’ve left that off.

Wish the company would sell just the logo stickers so I could get one for each side.

The sun is trying to shine through hazy fog. There's almost no traffic around, and my bike lane is nice and clear, too.

Screenshot from OpenSCAD of a bracket made to fit the headpost of the bike. The front part is flat to accept screws from the motor controller, the back part wraps around the head post. I made the holes the correct size for tapping and used a thread tap to cut nut-threads into the plastic.

Source code for my bracket. OpenSCAD is a program that lets you do CAD in the form of "constructive solid geometry" by writing code that produces objects. Shut up, I like it like that. One big advantage is that if you define your variables properly, then a non-coder can load up this file and customise it to fit their bike's measurements.

Part 10.1 coda: you don't technically need to fit a brake switch but if your throttle sticks or your lizard brain panics and retain a death grip on the handlebars, then activating the brake lever disables the motor. I will probably also connect the high/low speed selector, even though "medium" […]

Finished e-bike, throttle and brake are connected, battery is fitted to back end and the control box is fitted to a 3D-printed bracket I made to surround the steering pole. Zipties in many places.

The stock brake lever could be (ab)used as an electric motor disable switch, or you can buy brake levers with built in switches that are an easy replacement.

My new bike! I spent about 30 minutes today and I for sure could have spent far longer.

Am lucky that there are some bike paths around here because riding on actual roads is a lil more scary. But I''ll get used to it!

Sehr massiver Hecknabenmotor: Die Größe des Nabenmotors deutet auf eine Leistung hin, die über die üblichen 250 Watt für Pedelecs hinausgeht, was typisch für S-Pedelecs ist.

S-Pedelec vs. Pedelec: * Bei einem normalen Pedelec (bis 25 km/h) ist kein Kennzeichen vorgeschrieben. Hier dient ein solcher Reflektor lediglich der erhöhten Sichtbarkeit (Z-Reflektor). Bei einem S-Pedelec (bis 45 km/h) ist ein Kennzeichen gesetzlich zwingend. Ein Reflektor allein darf das Kennzeichen nicht ersetzen. Optischer Eindruck: Es wirkt in der Tat so, als wäre hier eine bereits vorhandene Haltevorrichtung genutzt worden, um den Reflektor besonders prominent zu platzieren. Sollte es sich um ein S-Pedelec handeln, wäre die Montage des Reflektors an dieser Stelle (ohne Kennzeichen) im öffentlichen Straßenverkehr nicht zulässig.

Verdächtiges #eBike mit Reflektoren, die darauf hinweisen, dass es sich hier um ein #SPedelec ohne Versicherungskennzeichen bzw. Reflektor an der Stelle handelt.

Es war kein Rückspiegel vorhanden, der Fahrer trug keinen Helm. Unrechtsbewusstsein war ebenfalls nicht vorhanden.

April 2026) – Die Zahl neuer Elektrofahrzeuge ist im Vorjahr in Österreich erneut gestiegen, um fünf Prozent auf rund 292.100, informiert die Mobilitätsorganisation VCÖ. Drei Viertel davon waren mit fast 223.000 erneut Elektrofahrräder. In absoluten Zahlen gab es bei E-Pkw die größten Zuwächse, prozentuell legten Lkw und Busse am stärksten zu, deren Neuzulassungen sich – auf niedrigem Niveau – verdoppelten. Angesichts der Spritkrise fordert der VCÖ verstärkte Maßnahmen, um die Energiewende im Kfz-Verkehr zu beschleunigen. Zudem ist die Rad-Infrastruktur rascher zu verbessern, damit das große Potenzial von E-Bikes besser genutzt werden kann.
