A Japanese Submarine shelled targets in and near the #Ellwood Oilfields in California; the first time the U.S. Mainland had been attacked since 1812. Damage was minimal, but triggered the #WestCoastInvasion Scare, and served as a pretext for the #Internment of Japanese Americans.

Due to recent rains, we had to construct a bridge from nearby fallen logs to cross a river so we could make it to the beach.
Worth it. Totally worth it.
