Proclamation states signed by the governor with the seal of the state of Washington and a gold seal on the bottom, in part: WHEREAS, emergencies and disasters can occur anywhere and at any time, posing significant threats to life, property, the environment and the economy; and WHEREAS, emergency management is an essential public safety function, charged with coordinating the actions of communities and all levels of government to protect lives, property, the environment, and the economy; and WHEREAS, the Washington Emergency Management Division (EMD), Tribal and local emergency managers, emergency managers across all sectors, and community leaders dedicate innumerable hours to developing preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation programs to protect the lives and property of everyone living in the state; and NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bob Ferguson, governor of the state of Washington, do hereby proclaim August 2025, as Emergency Management Awareness Month
