Our Archives are open to all, we strive to make them accessible. We recently hosted sessions at River House, Bethlem’s forensic unit, to explore our collections for Black History Month. It’s been great to welcome students from Fitzalan High School to the Archives this afternoon. They’re studying War Horse this term, which prompted them to visit to learn more about the impact of the First World War on Cardiff #EYAInclusion

These 1829 surveys show how British colonial doctors in Latin America helped destroy inclusive indigenous medical practises, in which gender and wealth played no role. In Britain, only wealthy men could be doctors.

For #EYAInclusion, we’ve been looking at the records of Queen Margaret College, a higher education institution for women that joined with the University of Glasgow in 1892. The records are a fascinating resource for anyone interested in the history of women’s education in Scotland.

#EarlyModern recipe books reflect collective medical knowledge. Anyone of any gender, ethnicity, or status could practise medicine. But the founding of the RCP in 1518 was an attempt to stamp out this inclusive culture and ensure that only wealthy men could be doctors

She was a dance and movement education practitioner who worked with many different groups, including children, people with Parkinsons and the elderly.
