Some yellow registration cards. The top one gives details of Miss Mary Clarke, a clerk studying for her matriculation in Inorganic Chemistry, Biology and French in 1935.

The Abbey's muniment collection - or archive - is one of the oldest in England. The documents we care for, from royal charters to estate papers and administrative records from the medieval monastery, chart life at the Abbey since the 10th century.

Despite being called a museum, we estimate that 60-70% of our collection is in fact books and archive. We are one of two archives of Met history, the other being the National Archives, which took all Met central records until 2000. #ExploreYourArchive #EYAYourArchive
