This is a vintage, black-and-white map titled "Plan of Arthur's Seat (The Sanctuary of Holyrood)." The map depicts an area with a prominent, multi-layered hill labeled "Arthur's Seat" at the bottom center, which ascends to "Crow Hill" and finally reaches "Whinny Hill" towards the top. Contour lines densely populate the map, illustrating the topography of the hills and surrounding landscape. Key locations around the central hill include "Holyrood Palace" in the upper-left, adjacent to "Queen's Stables" and a "Cricket Ground." To the right of the palace, the text "Queens Park" is visible. The area marked "Sanctuary of Holyrood" encompasses the majority of the hilly region. At the bottom-right, "Duddingston Loch" is depicted, with the adjacent "Duddingston Church" and the name of the area, "Duddingston." Other notable landmarks include "St. Margaret's Loch," "St. Anthony's Chapel (Ruins)," and "St. Anthony's Well" on the upper part of the hill. The lower-left area features "Park Brewery" and "Arthursley," along with several street names. Text annotations such as "Hunters Bog," "Echoing Rock," and "Nether Hill or Lions Haunch" identify specific locations within the mapped area. The map also illustrates the paths and routes, including "The Queen's Drive" winding around the hill and "St. Leonard's Branch (North British Railway)" indicating transportation routes.

Did you know Burke and Hare weren’t actually grave robbers? They murdered people and sold the bodies. But here’s the part history usually skips: their wives knew more than they let on.

That eerie gap is where my novel began.

A warm-toned courtyard view of Riddle’s Court in Edinburgh, showcasing its historic architecture. A gently curved, wooden external staircase leads to a second-floor doorway under a small overhang. The building’s textured sandstone walls, green-framed windows, and exposed piping add to its character and preserved medieval charm. The sunlight highlights the earthy colors and architectural details, while shadows create depth and mood in this tucked-away gem of Edinburgh’s Old Town.

The arched stone doorway is framed by intricate Gothic architecture and shadowed stone steps leading up to a large wooden door adorned with ornate black wrought iron designs. Above the arch, a carved stone relief adds detail to the weathered sandstone facade, partially illuminated by soft daylight and framed by shadows.

A historical black-and-white engraving depicting Nor Loch in Edinburgh before it was drained. The scene features a vast body of water stretching beneath a stone bridge, with Calton Hill and its monuments visible in the background. In the foreground, people are engaged in daily activities—washing clothes, tending to livestock, and transporting goods with horse-drawn carts. The image captures the bustling, yet rough and industrial, life of Edinburgh in earlier centuries.
