Cover of There are rivers in the sky by Elif Shafak. Cover is a big blue tear.

I finished 'There are rivers in the sky' by #ElifShafak yesterday and I really liked it.

It is about a poor boy born in London 1850s, a hydrologist in 2018 and a Yazidi girl near Tigris river in 2014

It seems Appropriate that at the end, I did shed a few tears

My left hand holds up a hardcover library book. It is “The Island of Missing Trees” by Elif Shafak. The book cover is Sky blue with a cut branch of a fig tree taking up the front. Butterflies and a bird are arranged on and around it and a fig hands from the cut branch. I’m holding the book up in the drivers side corner of my truck so you see black car interior, snowy wet windows, and city buildings stretching out behind the book.

I joined a small library, great for backlisted books of popular fiction.
I borrowed 4 over the festive season, I read two in Dec and 2 this week because unlike everything else on my shelf, these all have deadlines!

Enjoyed them all.
I will be borrowing more #ElifShafak & #MaggieOFarrell

Finished There Are Rivers in the Sky by #ElifShafak last month and let me tell you - haven’t been so hooked that I couldn’t even put it in the car by the end of a book for so long. Harrowing. Brilliant. Thought-provoking. Fascinating. Incredibly well-researched. Loved it.

Finished these two.

This is my third Elif Shafak book - most definitely the one I liked most.

It’ll take me time to process Arundhati Roy’s complicated, difficult, uncomfortable book.

That’s all I’ll say for now.

There Are Rivers In The Sky. Just finished it. A true, fantastic book. 5/5 🌟

Difficult to summerize 📖. Every comma and sentence is worth reading.

Three story lines in one. Confronting, beautiful, realistic... I learned from this book.

Summer Books Update:

Finished ‘The Bastard of Istanbul’ by #ElifShafak. On to ‘Cloud Cuckoo Land’ by #AnthonyDoerr.

Of the six Shafak novels I have just read, this is the one I loved the least. Still have ‘The Flea Palace’ & ‘Honor’ to go and expect to love them.
