Stopped for the night in Sebes, Romania. Small town, not much to see or do here, but feeling good about the choice of hotel and route we’re on simply based on the other #motorcyclists also here.

Gas stop in Romania. I ordered falafel & hummus but no hummus so she gave me something cabbage based instead. Good thing brownie is the same in multiple languages.
The bikes seem to stand out a lot more here. I seem to stand out more here too.

So much history on display in #Budapest. Beautiful and heartbreaking. I loved seeing the architecture and learning about building foundations from centuries ago, but the shoe memorial on the banks of the #Danube is where I sat and cried for a moment.

Stopped for the night in Schladming, #Austria. A charming town nestled in the mountains, complete with a ski lift.
Here’s hoping my gear dries out before getting on the road again in the morning.

The #Motorrad museum at the top of #Timmelsjoch pass. So many more bikes than I expected, including a steam engine #motorcycle!
Definitely worth stopping in to look around.

Love these mountains and feeling like I’m top of the world.
Rolling fog reduced visibility but riding these switchbacks still had me gleefully grinning.

Found a hostel room for the night in beautiful #Merano, #Italy.
Had to double check that I was still in Italy as everyone seems to speak German here.
My shifting foot was twitching as I fell asleep with memories of the Stelvio Pass. ☺️

Lake Como! Must return someday.
Took a wrong turn & rode around much of the lake. No matter, ended up at a great place with the friendliest hosts and met a couple of young #bikers who were happy to chat about our travels.

#Motorcycle riding in Italy:
Following distance is reduced to almost nothing, passing anyone requires repeated monitoring of mirrors, and other bikers are lane splitting at all of the speeds.
My peripheral vision has levelled up. I may have formed new neural connections.

Riding through #Marseille I looked down a cross street, saw this astounding structure, and almost couldn’t believe it was real. Had no idea there was a Notre Dame “Nouvelle Major” cathedral here. Stayed nearby to check it out.

#Motorcycle #travel means doing laundry in the sink @ night, and hanging it out to dry. Sometime it’s still not dry by morning, so this is my solution: strap my underwear to the bike & let the wind take care of it.

The French countryside.
Stopped in Carcassonne for a stroll, then Capestang. Small town stops like this are highlights for me. Beautiful courtyard cafes with other bikers (both the ding ding & the vroom vroom variety) enjoying a quiet moment.

Driver behind me: maybe if I get close enough I can push this motorcycle into doing the speed I want.
