Sunraycer Renewables Announces Significant Solar Projects with Meta Platforms in Texas
Sunraycer Renewables, a renewable energy company based in Annapolis, Maryland and supported by Crayhill Capital Management, has announced agreements with Meta Platforms, Inc. for two significant solar projects in Texas. These projects, Midpoint Solar and Gaia Solar, represent an important milestone for Sunraycer as it expands its portfolio of solar and battery storage facilities.
The Midpoint Solar project, located in Hill County, will have a capacity of 127 MWdc and 97.5 MWac, while the Gaia Solar project in Navarro County is slated for a capacity of 184 MWdc and 143 MWac. Both projects are expected to begin commercial operation in late Q4 2025. Combined, they will contribute 311 MWdc and 241 MWac to the ERCOT grid.
A key element of the agreement is that Meta will purchase 100% of the environmental attributes, also known as renewable energy credits, from both solar installations. This action effectively "retires" the environmental benefits of the electricity generated, demonstrating Meta's commitment to sustainability and helping them reach their goal of powering their operations with renewable energy.
Sunraycer’s development is further supported by its "Accelerant" program, which provides both financial backing and development expertise to smaller renewable energy developers. The projects mark the initial phase of Sunraycer’s ambitious plan to build a 4 gigawatt portfolio of solar and battery facilities. While specific financial details of the agreements were not disclosed, the partnerships highlight a growing trend of tech companies investing in renewable energy sources.
