When you are gone, I hope there will not be respectful mourning. No words of kindness, no adulation of greatness Only the sound of a million sighs, a wave of weary relief rippling around the globe, like the giant bell in that quiet fjord in Greenland. When you are gone, I hope there will be no Bronze statues of your bloated form for people to piss on, erected in the ruins of all you surveyed, only footnotes in history books saying "never ever again, we meant it this time."
When you are gone, I hope We can finally agree that avarice and greed are the worst of the seven deadly sins. That little girls will not be blown to bits and that, we the people, means all people not just the rich and obscene. When you are gone, I will not shed a single tear but rather, raise my face to the sky and scream so that all these sorrows, and incandescent anger, all the helplessness will leave me so I can finally feel like a human again.
Some days I just wake up with a head full of words.
