Author Spotlight:
If you're looking for hauntingly poetic Midwest literature, check out the novels, poems, and short stories of Louise Erdrich! Her writing explores themes of family, struggle, religion, and more through a uniquely German-Chippewa cultural lens.

4 out of 5 stars to The Plague of Doves by Louise Erdrich. This was the first novel by Erdrich I’ve read and I'll definitely read more of her work. The novel is filled with memorable characters, strange incidents and quirky touches of humor. #booksky #erdrich #fiction #review
I'd never read #Erdrich before, and I'd heard her stuff was brutal, but goddamn. I was swallowed whole by this book. And it turned out I didn't have to do it. Somebody returned a copy to another branch, and I guess that filled the hold request. I renewed the damn thing right after I finished it
Art for this book cover is an image of the spines of three books, facing us as they would on a bookshelf. They don't show titles and authors of their own. Just well-worn cloth bindings, all in shades of blue. Clear across the image, this book's title "The Sentence" and the name of author "Louise Erdrich" are printed. On the spine of the book on the left, there's a seal stating that it was shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction, 2021. On the right-hand volume, one blurb says, "Pulitzer Prize Winning Author of The Night Watchman" and another reads, "Erdrich is one of the greatest living American Writers --Guardian."
Final February Fun of A-Cover-A-Day, books I love. That is all!

A young girl stands in front of--you guessed it--a birchbark house, on the cover of The Birchbark House by Louise Erdrich. The girl has a little mischief in her smile, and a big crow perched on her shoulder. She wears a yellow top and a blue shawl. Behind the house are trees--I would say aspen and, right again, birches. The background outside of the picture is designed to look like, yes, birchbark. Across the top and bottom of this book cover are borders of black with beaded flowers and vines. If I had to guess at the type of flowers, I'd say maybe there are poppies and irises.
Just for fun in February, A-Cover-A-Day, books I love, that's all. 💙📚 #BookSky #Erdrich #JuvenileLit #HistoricalFiction #LittleHouseInTheBigLandBelongingToTheOjibwa #BirchbarkHouse #FirstInSeries

My fave reads on #motherhood, #Erdrich Blue Jay's Dance, and now #Kimmerer. She explores mother as verb for all. https://t.co/uSB8kz4LTs
