According to the Tulsa County Sheriff's office, Bates immediately said, "Oh, I shot him! I'm sorry."
Reminder: Even if an unarmed man is guilty of a crime (& it was never proven that #EricHarris was guilty of anything) it's still illegal to kill him in the street w/out a trial.

Facts: Harris was fatally shot in Tulsa, Oklahoma, when he ran from authorities unarmed. While Harris was being subdued, Bates confused his personal weapon, a Smith & Wesson .357 revolver, for a Model X26 Taser. Bates shot #EricHarris in the back while he was on the ground.

While treating a sting operation like a game, Robert Charles Bates (a white, armed, 73-yr-old Reserve Deputy) was offered the opportunity to Taze 43-yr-old, Black American, Eric Courtney Harris; the unarmed subject of the sting. Which is total bullshit no matter how you look at it.
