Es hat sich wieder gezeigt, dass man (fast) alles mit #EspHome hinbekommen kann: Ich habe es nämlich nicht fertig bekommen eine eigene Firmware zu schreiben, die auf dem Matrix Display wahlweise Text oder die aktuelle Uhrzeit ausgibt.

Nun läuft es und bringt sogar eine Einbindung in #HomeAssistent

Anyone have any "I've used..." recommendations for a DC to USB-C module with DC screw terminals and is small enough to go in a standard UK backbox?

**New** I created an #ESPHome display component wrapper for my bb_epaper library. This means that using e-paper on ESPHome devices just got a lot easier. For IoT devices with integrated displays (e.g. this one), 1 line of yaml defines it! (plus flicker-free updates).

Wochenendprojekt: automatische Pflanzenbewässerung. Ein ESP8266 mit Batterie, Solar, Pumpe und kapzitivem Feuchtigkeitssensor. Erstaunlich schnell mit #ESPHome umgesetzt und an #homeAssistant angebunden. Jetzt braucht es nur noch ein ordentliches Gehäuse und Kabelmanagement.

#ESPHome (and WiFi in general) is a horrible choice for battery-powered devices.

I got a Seeed IOT Button. I need to hit the button once and wait 5 seconds for it to connect to WiFi, then hit it again to get it to take action.
