Largo Canzondolore and C'bywina Geddo are snoozing in bed together in their private estate. Each peers deeply into the other's eyes, and they are smiling. "Darling," Largo coos, "words cannot describe the joy that rushes over me when I awake to gaze upon a woman with beauty such as yours."
C'bywina lifts herself up, smirking at him. "I see," she says thoughtfully. "Is that why you've hired four women as retainers; four merchants and a butler β all women β are boarders in our house; seven of your eight trainees in the Order of the Twin Adders are women; and you've invited Margot, Mariko, and Treurenbloem to join our adventuring company?"
Largo playfully feigns insult to parry her attack. "I would remind you that Ecarlasse's husband is *also* a boarder with us; Kehda'to has become just as impressive a protegΓ© as Z'hasmina; and Kha Dargo is a peerless warrior and stalwart ally. I simply surround myself with talented, capable people."
C'bywina giggles, unconvinced. "You hired Kehda'to because you liked his hat, and Dargo because the way he cares for his ward is adorable." Largo sighs, gracefully accepting defeat with a smile. "Why do you have to be so damned right all the time?"

It is moments before dawn somewhere in the Sea of Clouds. Largo Canzondolore leads his wife C'bywina Geddo, who is blindfolded, to the edge of a floating isle. Largo removes the blindfold, but C'bywina's eyes are still closed. Largo whispers, "Alright. Open your eyes."
The view that greets her is a sweeping panorama of the southern isles Sea of Clouds, just as the morning sun is rising into view. Largo and C'bywina stand on the tip of the floating promontory. Other nearby islands float frozen in silhouette against the brightening dawn.
A look of surprised elation has taken over C'bywina's face. She leans against Largo as he puts an arm around her shoulders and looks down at her, smiling. "Can you believe it's been ten summers since I brought you here after our bonding?" he muses aloud.
C'bywina looks up at Largo as they embrace, and teases, "You did look quite dashing in blue, you know." The two stand together in each other's arms, immunized against the cold Abalthian winds, with the sun climbing fully into view. Largo parries, "I suppose, just that once."
