GOOD WEB GRAVEYARD For those of us interested in more ethical, user-focused social platforms, it’s worth understanding how these ventures can go wrong. To that end, start here at the Good Web Graveyard: a link compilation on departed websites that had marketed themselves in terms of ethics. Avoiding exploitative business models isn’t itself a guarantee of failure, but plenty of other things are, and by reading up on what’s gone defunct, we can learn to recognize the warning signs.

🚨 Dreamspace Dispatch Is Now Self-Hosted — Here’s Why 🚨 As of today, Dreamspace Dispatch is officially and completely hosted right here at home, on our own site. You’ll still get every episode on the same schedule. The only thing that’s changed is where you’re listening. Why the shift? Because some platforms—like Spotify and possibly YouTube—are beginning to require listeners and creators to submit government-issued IDs just to access or share content.

We're moving the podcast home. 🏡 No more hosting on platforms that ask for your ID. Dreamspace Dispatch now lives on our site—freely, securely, and without invasive policies.

These principles are not merely theoretical; they constitute a call to action. They encourage everyone involved in the web's evolution to assess their contributions' societal and environmental impacts. We can create a web that truly benefits everyone by adhering to these principles:

    There is one web
The web does not cause harm to society
The web supports healthy community and debate
The web is for all people
The web is secure and respects people's privacy
The web enables freedom of expression
The web makes it possible to verify information
The web enhances individuals' control and power
The web is an environmentally sustainable platform
    The web is transparent
    The web is multi-browser, multi-OS, and multi-device
The web can be consumed in any way that people choose

The World Wide Web Consortium #W3C has released their Ethical Web Principles.

They do not change the technical behavior of the #Web, but hopefully make the Web a better place. Even if just so slightly.
