Uuuugghhhh Happy #FND Awareness Day! Please be aware of me! 🧡💜 Also like, please remember it is possible to spend an entire evening/weekend/lifetime with a disabled person and not "have to ask what the stick is for" 😑

MPs threaten fresh inquiry into carers allowance scandal amid redress delays Unpaid carers say they remain ‘in limbo’ as DWP continues to pursue discredited repayment bills

Instead of threatening and punishing, any government should be on its knees, *thanking* the millions of unpaid carers across the country.
But, hey, it's Britain, and we just accept that we're #ableist

I requested medical evidence to prove my permanent disability to renew my bus pass, GP sent just my medical history to me that has no relevance to my disability & informed me a more tailored one will cost me £45. And that won't guarantee I'll get my bus pass if I do pay that. FFS!! #EveryDayAbleism

Sat down with my Dad to watch a recording of the new 'Mock the Week' on TLC.

No subtitles. Disappointed Dad.

When someone tells you it can't be done when you know it can, you're better off doing it yourself & fucking shove it in the face of the deniers & say "IT CAN BE DONE & FUCKING CHEAPER THAN IF YOU DID IT AS YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE!! Parts ordered to prove the fuckers wrong! #EveryDayAbleism 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

a #PSA that I don't care how funny you think it is, making incontinence jokes about public figures is not acceptable, it's #Ableism #EverydayAbleism. the person you're making fun of will never see it and already has a bad rap without that.

real people struggling with incontinence will.

oh by the way, the whole new year resolutions shit is stupid as hell.

most people don't continue what they choose for longer than one month. (or similar timeframe, I'm on my phone not my computer.)

& it's #EverydayAbleism. the things often pushed are out of reach depending how one is disabled.

So the "no mobility aids in the arena" wave is supposedly powered by the concern that a wrong'un might grab it and attack someone.

For which, of course, people with accessibility needs must be punished.

The unbelievable rules being rolled out around the country ( #WembleyArena, #CoopLive, #AOArena ) that require standing ticket holders to surrender their mobility aid or go sit in the accessibility area, or go home.

A rash of people—with none of whom I think I have ever interacted—have blocked me today, apparently in response to politely asking someone to use alt text.

No one wants to have a public meltdown. No one. Just treat people with kindness. Whatever happened to the customer is always right?

I've paid for a 1st class ticket, I'm sat in standard class because I am sobbing and can't make it back to 1st class. I asked a member of your staff for help and he just directed me back to the first half of the train.

Strangers on the train have been kind, unlike your staff!

A grey sanitary bin in a tiled bathroom. It looks hygienic and adequate enough for use. There is a paper label on the top that reads "NAPPY BIN!" in enthusiastic capital letters

This family bar in Blackpool with combined use accessible/baby change facilties (good enough) with a demeaningly specific label on the sanitary bin (not so good). #EverydayAbleism

This otherwise lovely chip shop in Blackpool who didn't think it was necessary to put a lock of any kind on the accessible toilet door. #EverydayAbleism

Just sat down to watch "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" with my Dad, on BBC iPlayer.

Special mention to guy at the urinals in Oldham who asked me if I'd ever used my crutch as a cock-rest.*

Still technically #EverydayAbleism because who asked him to ask, but it's an original question and made me laugh.

We walked out holding hands for unrelated comedy reasons.

It's #EveryDayAbleism time.

There's an employee platform called Guusto that should be flatly ashamed of themselves for using an AccessiBe overlay.

It's like you have a sign that disabled people are second-class citizens. Wake the fuck up.

Not necessarily #EveryDayAbleism but I have people who just assume a lot and let their ignorance get them into shit.

They just chose to make some crap up and say "AODA/AU" which.. the fuck is that?

Bluesky should disable autoplay on media by default because seizure triggers can vary beyond just flashing.

A double dose of #EveryDayAbleism is how BlueSky hasn't fixed their site's markup yet.

@jay.bsky.team is too busy trolling us to make any sort of meaningful difference.

I found a company that claims to do accessibility but they're using an overlay on their site and pitching AI tools.

Could not possibly get less credible than that.

MF came back.

They want easy where there will only be more nuance. You can't be good at #Accessibility without learning more every day.

Another dose of #EveryDayAbleism

Someone messaged me thinking they could fully automate testing for #Accessibility.

You can't. It's irresponsible beyond comprehension. Just leave your job at that point. AI is garbage.

You know what, fuck it. Here's your #EveryDayAbleism

Someone had the fucking balls to ask me why their NVDA didn't automatically go where they wanted it to. They had to move their mouse to make it work.
