A view from inside the USA Pavilion from Expo '74 - taken 8/24/2025. Officially known as the "International Exposition on the Environment" - May 4, 1974, to November 3, 1974, in Spokane, Washington, in the northwest United States. It was the first environmentally themed world's fair ("Progress without Pollution") and attended by roughly 5.6 million people. The heart of the fair park grounds was located on Canada Island, Havermale Island, and the adjacent south bank of the Spokane River. This current view shows the interior of the USA Pavilion, looking skyward through the tension framework of cables that support fabric sails that once covered the entire structure. The open roof today reveals a bright blue sky that echoes the efforts of the exposition's themes of 51 years ago.
