Character: President Shinra The highest authority at the Shinra Company, with complete control. He is a skilled business man who grew Shinra Manufacturing, the predeccessor to the company, into the giant corporation it is today, in one generation. He is a rational and ruthless man, and will completely eliminate anyone who harms Shinra's profits. His policy towards controlling people is to "focus on gaining public support by pouring huge amounts of money and controlling the media." If the public's anger were directed at the company itself, it would put the company at risk of collapse. On the other hand, he believes that his son's policy of controlling the people, "suppressing them with force without regard for them," will soon reach its limits. Because of the conflict over their policies of controlling the people, he judges Rufus to be a risk and sends him on an extended bussiness trip, keeping him away from the core of management.
Character Rufus He is Shinra's biological son and vice president. At the time, he was on a long business trip. It is rumored that he has no real power.
Another interesting bit from the official BC website is President Shinra sending Rufus away on busniess trips and denying him access to management because of their conflicting policies on how to control the public.
