Can you tell me a bit more about why you are a #FoodLadders person? I’m not really seeing it in your bio and posts. Happy to include you but curating a bit here and certainly not saying you aren’t.

I draw on both Sen’s #capabilities and #TheoriesofPractice We’ve written about that in the #FOODLadders toolkit. Explaining one’s perspective is an important aspect of being clear. I prefer practices to behavioral change because practices exist in chains and connect. geofoodie.org/food-ladders...

Introducing Food Ladders: A way of seeing community food provision
Introducing Food Ladders: A way of seeing community food provision Key Words: Community resilience, Food security, Food Ladders, Food Poverty, Community Development This video explainer describes the Food Ladders Framework. The Food Ladders framework is a way of structuring activity at the local scale to help increase food security and build resilience within communities. There are things we can do at the national scale to reduce the burden of food insecurity, but the local scale is where people interact with or are excluded from their local food system. A local food system includes what food is available to a community as well as how it is accessed (e.g., purchased, self-grown, given, shared) and the conditions within which it is produced or made available (e.g., wages, environmental concerns, ownership, rights, motivations). The extent of households struggling to access and utilise the food they need to live their best lives is not limited to low-income countries; it is also a problem experienced in high-income countries, too. In England, for example, recent figures show that as many as one in four adults skip meals regularly. Many more struggle to afford food that is healthy. Disproportionately, these families have children. Moreover, the struggle is concentrated in particular places. The food ladders framework works directly within this space to connect people and activity, provide a place to rest and recover, build capabilities and capacity, and open opportunities for people to engage with each other and imagine new food futures. If you would like to know more about the food ladders and food insecurity in economically wealthy countries and understand the implications of food insecurity for health and well-being, please visit Http://geofoodie.org. In September 2024, a toolkit for local government will be launched to facilitate the use of the food ladders.

#FoodLadders is both an approach to building communities and a framework for understanding how different activities and projects contribute to #resilience at the local scale. See also mdpi.com/2071-1050/11/1…
