It was fairly obvious who the suspect was, if only by who the actor was playing him. However, I'll say this again, the writing and Lee Yi Kyung's delivery really obfuscated his criminal intent. A sharp eye could have caught the nuanced hints, but it took work.

Listen, we all knew who the killer was, given the actor, but the show did a bang-up job in its crime storytelling with balancing between letting the cat out of the bag and showing absolutely no clues and then pulling a suspect out of thin air.
This scene here was pure cinema.
