City vs Burnley
wow it seems like if Arsenal win the league now, City have bottled it. Words don't mean anything apparently so why not
Think that was better than anything we could’ve hoped for from Burnley and/or City, who left about five goals on that pitch but decided to play with their food instead.
Buckle up - five games to go. Let’s do our jobs.
Interesting watching City.
Don't be fooled by the 0-1 scoreline, they battered Burnley. Built up an xG of more than 3, missed some great chances.
But - but - it ended up being narrow and there were a couple of late nervy moments.
Nothing is a given in this race. On to the next.
We all keep writing them off (I did at half time), but the spirit in this squad is immense. When you can be mediocre but pick up a draw at a place like that...full credit to Farke, I wanted him gone after Spurs but what a job since City. #lufc
Considering it could all come down to goal difference, however unlikely that might be, City only winning by one here would be quite the let off.
City's xG is over 3. This looked like Burnley were going to get a hammering.
In the end, Burnley could have grabbed a point had they finishers.
Hopeful.
post-match analysis:
city men lose = haha frauds you suck
city men draw = haha frauds you suck
city men win = you got lucky, still looked like shit
city men win by alot = RAWR 115!!! 😂😂😂
Manchester City are top for the first time in August, ending Arsenal's 200-day stay there. But while Erling Haaland relegated Burnley, City could regret not boosting their goal difference. On Burnley 0-1 Manchester City:

Goal difference and equal goal tallies are only temporary factors. They won't last long. The team that slips up first will likely pay. If Arsenal, given their previous tendency to falter in such situations, drop points again, City would put their foot on Arsenal's throat and kill them

It's hilarious to watch the NBC/Peacock reporter trying to get the City people to say how frustrated they are, and Pep and Haaland are like "We won!"
"Aren't you frustrated with your performance?"
"Why? We won. That's what matters. Why would we be frustrated to win?"
yes, we all love "the narrative" and debate whether a team has "bottled" it, but payroll data would support City underperforming all season.
Spending £50,000,000 more than arsenal a year and being level after 33 games...
Near future goal: me and the homie @penz87.blacksky.app go across the pond to check out a City vs LFC match.
No idea what’s going to happen but feels like the narratives are starting to overtake the football when the manner of Arsenal’s loss means that they’re going to win it and the manner of City’s win means they’re going to lose it.

The PL really is trash at the moment. This City team is nowhere near the one that was racking up 100 points, there is not one team I’m excited to watch. No one plays anything close to PSG or Bayern.
Come onnnnn Burnley what an execution of absolute scumbag tactics
Was really really expecting a 6-0 thrashing by City

City eking out a 1-0 at Burnley isn’t doing much for the argument that they’re going to rampage through their next 5 games.
I said last week that I thought #Arsenal would lose this game and win the league. So I can't change my prediction now. #FediFC
City winning 1-0 to Burnley kinda feels like a win, no?
was about to say how the hell is this Barça game only starting the 2nd half?
They were only like 30 mins behind the City game that just ended
My bias aside, why should goals scored matter more than goals conceded? Surely if goal difference is the same it is just head-to-head results that dictate the order (which would also put City top)?
GOAL! Burnley 0-1 Man City (Haaland, 6) INEVITABLE! Arsenal fans, any hopes you had, they've faded. Doku spins away nicely near the halfway line and frees Haaland in behind the Burnley backline, which is very high. Haaland bears down on goal and while the angle is tight, he clips a super chip over Dubravka and into the far corner.
🏴🦁⚽🏆 Man City Go Top as Burnley Relegated
Manchester City beat Burnley FC 1-0 via Erling Haaland goal. City go top, while Burnley are relegated.
EPL title race gonna be something special. City, despite many blown chances, can win the title.
