Looking it up I didn't realize that Bit Corp planned to release their Famiclones in the US as the Pirate MKII.

A garbled screen, cleaned contacts, then the black wire broke off. Keeping wire pressed with a finger it worked. Tried heating a screwdriver to solder but not warm enough, so we gave it up. Can't play AND hold the wire at the same time. #failureatthecave #famicom #famiclone #retrorevival

We got a used psu with 5-6V. No polarity protection meant we had to make sure which wire was positive or negative and resorted to cutting open the connector. Once we did that we connected it to the wires of the #famiclone. Time to test!

Opening up the #famiclone, it seems the pcb was designed for multiple purposes. It has markings for a volume button, DC jack and the case has a options for a speaker and screen, so it could also be a portable. No diode for polarity protection installed though. #famicom

Opened up the #famiclone. Positive wire was loose, that explains why it did nothing when we wanted to play some of the #famicom games.

I did buy a crappy screwdriver set for ¥330 so I can open up the #famiclone and hopefully get it to work tonight so we can play some of the #famicom games we got.

Also bought a #famiclone for ¥550 so we could play/test all the #hudsonsoft #famicom games we got. But unfortunately it did not work (it was not marked as JUNK!). We did take 4 AAA batteries from airco remotes to try, so maybe it just needs more power. Definitely buying a screw driver tomorrow.

Just used the side cutter to cut the sides off. Soldered it to the board and that's it. Tested it and it woerks! Another #famiclone saved. Maybe my friend will want it back now. God knows I wont't be playing on it. I am curious about the Av Out composite quality though.

Replacement cartridge slot arrived. Let's remove the one missing a pin 1st. The replacement has protruding sides, but it might fit without trimming off the sides. So let's try that before cutting off the extending sides. #famicom #famiclone #retrorevival #retrogaming
