Big hearing right now for the #FamilyZoningPlan at #SanFrancisco Supervisors Land Use and Transportation Committee. They could
a) send to the full board
b) make amendments and hear again in this committee
c) make substantive amendments and send back to Planning Commission
I'm spending a lot of time looking at #SanFrancisco's proposed #FamilyZoningPlan. Perhaps that's why reading about Pope Leo XIV's just released Dilexi Te (apnews.com/article/vatican-poor-pop... brought it to mind.

Thank you to every volunteer that turned out, told their story, shared their feelings and shared what motivates them in the fight to end our decades long housing shortage
I couldn’t be prouder to volunteer with and call all these fellow @sfyimby.bsky.social folks my friends 💙💙💙
#FamilyZoningPlan
And I JUST NOW HEARD, that the commission voted to advance the Mayor’s #FamilyZoningPlan by a vote of 4-3 (all four supportive votes were appointed by Mayor @londonbreed.bsky.social over the past several years, my thanks as always to her thoughtful appointments)
Update, I am still in line.
If you want to come and give public comment in support of the #FamilyZoningPlan - you have plenty of time. This is going to go on for a good long while…
Another beautiful, peaceful day in San Francisco talking about land use policy! #sfyimby #familyzoningplan
This sadly means I cannot hear the other public commenters, but I’m sure none of us are saying anything particularly new (pro, or against) and we’re all just here to speak our truth and remind the elected officials watching that we expect them to support this plan 🙌🏽
#FamilyZoningPlan
D4 resident talking about the recall of Supervisor Engardio, the clash over visions, the potential for the builders remedy and her concerns about affordability and whether #FamilyZoningPlan is “overkill”
Is worried about the “visual change” of the neighborhood
The NorCalCarpenters are here (there’s more of them upstairs 🤘🏽) and I couldn’t be prouder to stand with them as they continue to lead the charge within organized labor to make it legal to build homes so WORKING PEOPLE CAN LIVE IN THE CITY THEY WORK IN!
#FamilyZoningPlan
We continue to wait in line as this presentation wraps up. I’m here with friends and fellow pro-housing people including Brian, @mikechensf.com and Leon! We’re all waiting patiently for public comment to begin 🙏🏽
#FamilyZoningPlan
It is time for us to actually build housing on the Westside, it is time to #GrowTheRichmond and it is time to make room for future generations 🙏🏽
#YesInMyBackYard #FamilyZoningPlan
Now we get to the presentation from Lisa Chen at @sfplanning.bsky.social, where she outlines the stakes of this plan and how big of a fucking hole we have dug ourselves into over the past half century #FamilyZoningPlan
My man @dannysauter.bsky.social is out here in support of #FamilyZoningPlan and I am so proud to have volunteered to help elect his forward thinking leadership in District 3 💙💙💙
Well, today is the day folks - @sfplanning.bsky.social is taking up the #FamilyZoningPlan at their meeting today, before the meeting began I joined my friends at @sfyimby.bsky.social and many other organizations for a “lively” rally in support of the proposal

For those considering #SanFrancisco's Upzoning Plan (aka #FamilyZoningPlan) , predicated on letting for profit developers build higher and denser, we have some data:
"London boroughs with the greatest number of these rental property developments, rents have increased by 48% to 52% since 2015 […]
