The red stone turns up in Someone Else's Shoes and will be more prominent in the sequels. As for the black one... that'll be waiting for the endgame.

A static pod turns up in To Poison a Prince (where Darshan uses it to keep his poisons safe). But I intend for them to return for their original usage once I start on the Stamekia-based story.

One of these domes turned up in To Poison a Prince, and others (vastly bigger ones) will rock up in tales set in the past, but for the most part, they're mere relics at this point in the storyline.

New month, new section about the #magic in the #spellsteruniverse. This time, magical items. Few appear in the stories, mostly as minor mentions, like the Singing Crystals, but others have a deeper impact.

And, bouncing off last week... here are the protector-type Nulled Ones: The Mhanek's Personal Guard, the Ghosts of Niholia and the Elven Enforcers of Heimat...

Honestly, there's so much variation between the different types of Nulled Ones that I could do another month just on those, but they can be divided into two types: Hunter and Protectors. So here are the hunters...

Yes, somewhere in my pages of worldbuilding, I've a list of main/major spellster characters and what they "smell" like.

New month, new section about the #magic in the #spellsteruniverse. This time, switching the focus to those immune to magic...

Forbidden magic might just be a bit of a subjective concept on the continent.
#spellsteruniverse #fantasyhistory #worldbuilding #magic #mages #queerbooks #queerfantasy
I think the spellster schools of magic are perhaps the most intricate build I have attempted where the people didn't get their powers from deities.
#spellsteruniverse #fantasyhistory #worldbuilding #magic #mages #queerbooks #queerfantasy
Technically, you get a spellster into any state of heightened emotion and they're gonna struggle with their magic, but some things pose problems less common in other instances.

Whilst the origin of spellster abilities is a hotly contested topic, it is widely known to be passed on through bloodlines and many countries have a phrase that amounts to the same thing: spellsters breed spellsters. Whilst not all those with magic dedicate their lives to mastering their full potential, spellsters of any great degree of power are generally born with the instinctual ability to conjure magic. Newborn abilities are limited to what seems to be a typical reaction to a hostile environment, such as a barrier briefly cast in the presence of pain. Often this magic isn’t strong enough to be destructive until early childhood, with the average age of wilful control being five-to-six years of age. Although, there have been many reports of babies causing a house fire or the death of a non-magical parent.
This year for Worldbuilding Wednesday, I'll be posting about the most controversial thing used within the Spellster Universe: #Magic.
But first, a little about spellsters themselves...

I deliberated over adding this one for some time, but the Independent Isles have a lot of crabs.

I may not be one for seafood that comes out of a shell, but I put a lot of foods I wouldn't personally enjoy in my books, so what's one more?

If it wasn't for my lactose intolerance, I swear...

I have a mighty need to attempt this, but I suck at desserts. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to give it a try.

It's a new month and the final for foods from my universe's people. This one was a little trickier, being that the Independent Isles are literally a cluster of islands, but I've only a few Wednesdays to work with.

Tried not to do another stew-like dish, but a lot of simple cuisine boils down to... well... stew.

Food cooked via magic would for sure have its own flavour profile, maybe even several.
#spellsteruniverse #fantasyhistory #worldbuilding #fantasyfoods #booksky
The texture alone would make this a definite 'no' for me, but I'm also not a fan of bitter foods.

It's a new month, time for more foods from my universe's people. Actually going back to the desert empire of Stamekia to focus on the non-nomadic folk.

And you can bet everywhere you'd go in Cezhory, the locals would insist their version of Pork and Dumplings is the original.

Exploring Hollow Earth: Myths, Mysteries, and Monsters
The myth of the Hollow Earth has held the imagination for centuries. Where did it come from, however?
