50,000+ fast food workers in Los Angeles will win despite being undermined by the fast food industry and their lobbyists.
Because we know when we fight, we win!

We’re on strike because we learned our rights through our union.
Today’s strike is in Sylvia Arenas’ district - we appreciate her leadership to ensure workers across her district and the country have access to independent Know-Your-Rights Training.
#FastFoodFairWork
We’re on strike because we know our rights; we won’t let our bosses slow down our organizing.
We've held hundreds of delegations in Santa Clara County and CA to get employers on board with #FastFoodFairWork ordinances, ensuring workers like us know our rights.
We won’t stop until we win.
@msainato.bsky.social talks to Candida Masin about the organizing she's been doing to get fast food employers signed on to the Constitutional Pledge to Protect California Workers’ Rights.

Protecting workers isn't just a moral issue, it’s an economic necessity for our communities.
Time for the fast food industry to stop lobbying against us and support the #FastFoodFairWork ordinance in Los Angeles and Santa Clara County.
Be it against family friendly scheduling, or mandatory independent Know-Your-Rights training, if they dare lie in the name of a pastor, what other lies are they telling fast-food workers and consumers?

FORGERY BY THE FAST FOOD INDUSTRY:
Recently in a letter to Los Angeles City Council a lobbying group for the fast food industry illegally forged the signatures of civil rights organizations across the region claiming they opposed mandatory independent Know-Your-Rights training 🧵

Workers with a banner that says The Fast Food Industry steals $44 million from LA Area workers every year *estimate
In a recent survey of California fast food workers, 85% reported having experienced at least one form of wage theft.
Los Angeles can lead the way to ensure every fast food worker is equipped with the knowledge on how to fight back.
LA City Council: Support the #FastFoodFairWork Ordinance!
Today we rallied at Subway in Los Angeles due to our member being unfairly disciplined and fired after calling out of work sick and because her spouse died.
She’s been completely removed from the schedule, and we’re demanding she’s put back!

A picture of a Taco Bell worker holding a strike sign with the text “...There should’ve been a working panic button, a prevention plan, but instead, when I spoke up about what happened, they cut my hours and moved me to another store. That’s not gonna silence me…”
A picture of a Taco Bell worker raising her arm up, with the text “Fast food workers need Know Your Rights training so that, together, we can enforce the laws meant to protect us, not just be moved around to be kept silent. Los Angeles City Council: Take immediate action to pass the Fast Food Fair Work ordinance without further delay.”
The past two months we’ve been bringing our stories to the Los Angeles City Council.
This is one of them.
We won't stop until we win. #FastFoodFairWork
Workers sit in a row at a Los Angeles city council meeting over text that reads: ILLEGALLY TERMINATING WHISTLEBLOWERS IS NOT ONLY AN INJUSTICE TO US WORKERS BUT ALSO A DANGER TO ALL CUSTOMERS! TOO MANY FAST FOOD WORKERS DON'T KNOW THEIR RIGHTS AND ARE LEFT SILENCED, BECAUSE OUR BOSSES ARE NOT PROVIDING KNOW YOUR RIGHTS TRAININGS. WE NEED EVERY FAST FOOD WORKER IN LOS ANGELES TO KNOW THEIR RIGHTS AND FEEL EMPOWERED TO ENFORCE THEM.
Yesterday we attended Los Angeles City Council alongside @sbworkersunited.org baristas after one of our members was illegally terminated for whistleblowing horrible conditions at their workplace. This was one of our members messages.
#FastFoodFairWork
END THE UNION BUSTING AT WINGSTOP: Today we rallied to demand our fellow worker, recently wrongfully terminated, be reinstated WITH backpay.
This termination was retaliatory and unlawful. 🧵

A crowd shot of our workers holding a banner that says which side are you on on one side is ice and CPD together
While customers in every district have supported us, the response from bosses has been tepid.
Meanwhile the industry continues to lobby against this critical legislation.
Which side is the fast food industry on?

Today's strikes comes after dozens of Los Angeles fast food workers and @sbworkersunited.org baristas converged on City Council to make it clear how serious we are our demands for 55,000+ workers.
In 2025, we begun moving a #FastFoodFairWork ordinance.
In 2026, we’ll do whatever it takes to win.
This is absurd. How can we plan our tight budgets if our shifts and hours keep getting canceled or changed?
The new report published by @shift-project.bsky.social provides new evidence supporting the need to pass the Fast Food Fair Work Ordinance in LA.

"Employers rely on fear and rely on this misinformation to silence their workers; informed workers are more confident, right? In standing up, reporting workplace abuses, and advocating for safer conditions." Our field coordinator Arnold Pena on the importance of passing #FastFoodFairWork laws

Today’s strike is in Ysabel Jurado’s district. We appreciate her support ensure all 50,000+ fast food workers in our city know they don’t have to work off the clock and look forward to the #FastFoodFairWork ordinance moving forward.
BREAKING: SUBWAY workers in Los Angeles are ON STRIKE after bosses have continuously failed to pay us hard-earned wages on time! One worker has filed for nearly $6000 in wages and penalties. 🧵
#UnionsForAll #FastFoodFairWork
We’ve been speaking out on the importance of passing the #FastFoodFairWork ordinance.
Our bosses can’t be trusted to train us on our rights, City Hall must intervene and implement independent know your rights training for every fast food worker in Los Angeles as soon as possible.
Carl’s Jr workers are ON STRIKE due a toxic work environment in the kitchen, rat feces, low staffing levels, and retaliation against union activists.
We took action because we learned our rights through our union. That’s why we’re supporting a #FastFoodFairWork law in Santa Clara County.
A meme that says Shame on Yoshinoya! After one of our leader members sounded the alarm at her store for unsanitary conditions including roaches, a broken fridge, and failing to provide proper sanitation and protective equipment, instead of simply fixing the problem and ensuring their food is safe to serve to customers, the company fired her.
A picture of Rosa that says "This week we marched on Yoshinoya and made it clear: an attack on one is an attack on all. We've been organizing in fast food in Los Angeles for over decade, and we'll do whatever it takes to ensure justice for Rosa. "
A slide that says "This is what we’re up against. While the industry claims workers like us don't need Know Your Rights training, it's clear by actions like Yoshinoya’s workers need to know about their right to organize and how their employers' unsafe working conditions can be fixed. This is why we’re calling on Los Angeles lawmakers to pass the Fast Food Fair Work ordinance."
This week we marched on the boss at Yoshinoya.
Their actions are unacceptable, illegal and will not be tolerated.
This is why we're fighting for independent Know Your Rights trainings as part of the job.

Demoting workers.
Increasing workload by reducing the number of co-workers staffed with us.
Engaging in unwanted touching.
Opening up retaliatory investigations to intimidate workers.
These are illegal actions by McDonald’s and we won’t stand for it!
We won't back down.

Teresa learned she has the right to fight back against wage theft through our Union - this is why the labor movement and community allies across the city have joined us to pass a #FastFoodFairWork law in Los Angeles.

Our coworker’s hours have been restored because she knows her rights and we fight to ensure she can exercise them.
It's time for Burger King to stop standing in the way and join us and support local ordinances across the state to ensure every fast food worker knows their rights.

It’s time for bosses and Los Angeles City Council members to support the #FastFoodFairWork ordinance so all workers get the training needed to keep everyone safe, including customers.
This is precisely why it is so crucial for workers to be knowledgeable about our workplace rights, so we can protect consumer health and the health and safety of our coworkers - this is why we’re demanding our employers and Council support the #FastFoodFairWork Law in Los Angeles.
