Ran our first game of #Fatesong last night and it was brilliant
I made a small error in that I added a little creepiness to one of the NPCs.
This ended with the players kidnapping and quite brutally interrogating a man for information he would have given freely if they tried to earn his trust π
Fatesong level 1 edition drops tomorrow with intro adventure. Very excited about this one! No spell slots!
Will update once we've played a session on Saturday!
As always support solo Devs and indie creators before they're gone!

Two Evades. Thatβs all you get.
In Fatesong, you donβt have hit points.
You have two chances to avoid meaningful harm before the next hit puts you on the ground.
Combat should be fast, dangerous, and something characters survive β not something they grind through.

Sylvan look like elves if you squint. Lean, angular, long-eared.
These things are not elves.
Their teeth are designed for tearing meat. Their eyes catch firelight in the dark like a predator's.
They cannot digest cooked food or plants. They eat fresh, raw meat.

FAULT LINE
You find the flaw in the thing.
Touch any object. Learn its single weakest structural point β the stress fracture, the loose hinge, the hairline crack in the lock.
Everything has a seam.

Elves. Potentially immortal.
Vulnerable to injury, ageless after maturity.
The catch:
Every 100 years, an Elf has to undergo a ritual to prune away memories. Without it, the past becomes as vivid as the present.
Living forever has maintenance costs.

The Felari always land on their feet from up to 50 feet. No roll. No damage. Just a landing.
That part everyone likes.
Here's the other part. Felari have a powerful biological compulsion to investigate anything unusual.
They're not reckless. They just can't always stop.

Final edits on the Quick Rules PDF today. Painful cuts β there's a lot worth keeping that doesn't belong in a quick start.
Free Quick Rules + adventure 'Everyone in Duncraig is Lying...' releasing Friday April 3rd.

HEARTH OMEN
Ash remembers.
Trace a symbol in cold ash or soot. Learn whether violence occurred in this space within the past 24 hours.
Yes. No. Or the ash tells you nothing at all.

ANCESTRY: AZURAXI
Some measure their lives in centuries. The Azuraxi clock is shorter. Very few live past 50
Every few months, during their shedding cycle, they can regrow lost fingers, toes, or the tip of a tail
They have learned not to be precious about what they lose

BORROWED PERSPECTIVE
For a moment, you stand outside your own body.
Perceive yourself and your surroundings from a floating vantage point nearby.
#Fatesong #TTRPG #IndieRPG
Classes are built around permission: what you can do and what you canβt.
I think characters are more interesting when you start somewhere else entirely β not what you do, but how you do it.
Wrote about this today.

Every legend begins small. Most end there.
FATESONG is a narrative-first fantasy TTRPG where you begin ordinary and become myth.

DISCIPLINE #1 β IRON DOCTRINE
No flourish. No performance.
Iron Doctrine doesn't care whether you were impressive.
It cares whether you were still standing when everyone else wasn't.
Endurance. Formation. The wall that doesn't move.

ANCESTRY: BORBOR
Small. Strong. They live underground and burrow deep tunnels between their settlements.
Most never come up.
The ones who do are blinded by open sky for days. Sometimes weeks.
Some go back down. The most interesting ones stay anyway.

CANDLE OF UNEASE
Flame leans toward guilt.
A lit candle flickers violently when someone nearby is hiding strong fear or malicious intent.
It does not tell you who.
#Fatesong #TTRPG #IndieRPG
In Fatesong, injuries matter.
Powerful magic can leave scars. Dark abilities can change you.
And sometimes the cost of surviving a fight is something you carry for the rest of the campaign.

Spell: SHADOW REBIRTH
Life ends. The shadow does not.
You sacrifice a small living creature. The body dies. Its shadow rises β ink-winged, ember-eyed, bound to you.
It is not a companion. It is what remains.

MEMORY OF THE ROOM spell overview
A vivid echo of the most emotionally intense event that occurred here within the past year.
Symbolic. Fragmented. Brief
You do not control what you see. Not the most dramatic moment. The most emotionally intense. Not always the same thing.

Ancestry: The Umbra Mar
They have no bones. They can squeeze through any opening large enough for their beak.
To get a full night's rest, they need to sleep with their head submerged in saltwater.
Every inn they've ever stayed in has had a negotiation.

Ancestry: MYCELIA
Mycelia are sentient fungal colonies that inhabit corpses. Some look like blooming things β strange and almost beautiful.
Others look like what they are.
If they die, their spores can find another body and start again.
A new person, with fragments of the old one.

Dev Log:
Currently polishing the Regroup system.
Itβs the mechanic that controls pacing between fights.
Trying to make sure it creates tension by requiring something more than just time.

They are simply the last ones still standing.
