We have a major problem. Many of the annotated images in the #FathomNetDatabase have sparse coverage–only 1 or some of the animals are labeled. We’re asking the #ComputerVision community for help to develop better object detectors.
This competition is held jointly as part of #LifeCLEF2026 and #FGVC13 Workshop at #CVPR2026.

Annotated images from the #FathomNetDatabase were used to train and evaluate the new Segment Anything Model 3 (SAM 3), adding complex underwater scenes to the broad training dataset and expanding the variety of environments the model can recognize.
